Abby Elliot, Chris Elliot's Daughter on SNL. Saturday Night Live.

The first part of the season for Saturday Night Live was a huge success, thanks to the election. But now, the hard part of the year for SNL is about to begin. With no more election news to spoof, and no more opportunities to use their two biggest stars, SNL is widely expected to fall flat for the remaining 7 months of the season. To try and defeat that expectation, SNL has hired two new women to help them out. The move fittingly comes now that Tina Fey is no longer available to do guest spots, and now that Amy Poehler is gone due to being a mother. The two newestSNL women filling in for them are Abby Elliot and Michaela Watkins. Abby Elliot has a link to one of SNL's least impressive moments in history. Her father is Chris Elliot, who joined Saturday Night Live in the 1994-95 season. Elliot could not help the show much in a season that almost destroyed SNL. Abby Elliot will try to have better luck than her father did, however. Elliot is a third generation comedic performer in the Elliot family, behind her father and her grandfather, Bob Elliot of "Bob & Ray Show" fame. Not many people might know Abby Elliot nationally, but she is known to some comedy fans as a member of the Upright Citizens Brigade and Groundlings. Countless SNL stars have come from Groundlings, and Poehler herself was a founder of Upright Citizens Brigade before joining on SNL in 2001. Elliot is a fairly young new cast member at 21 years old.
