Liberals let loose on Palin and Joe the Plumber. Even Biden and Obama have taken shots.

SAN DIEGO, California (CNN) -- I thought liberals were supposed to be good-hearted, open-minded and non-judgmental.

Tell that to the angry Left's favorite piñata, Sarah Palin. As far as liberals are concerned, Palin can do no right just as Barack Obama and Joe Biden can do no wrong. In fact, Biden is catching more passes than an NFL wide receiver.

As Palin herself pointed out in a recent CNN interview, imagine if she had been the one to imply that electing Obama would invite calamity. Biden does it, and the media shrug.

I also thought the Democratic Party was supposed to go to bat for the little guy, the everyday Joe the Plumber.

Tell that to Joe Wurzelbacher, the Ohio resident who got his 15 minutes -- and 40 lashes -- because he dared question Obama about his tax plan. Obama insists that the plan would raise taxes only on those Americans earning more than $250,000 per year. It was then Obama made his clumsy "spread the wealth" comment.

What was Joe thinking: that we live in a democracy where everyday Americans who pay the salaries of elected officials can dare question their policies? That just isn't done.

To prove it, the elites who run the Democratic Party -- along with their surrogates in the media and organized labor -- went after the plumber.

We now know that Samuel Joe Wurzelbacher owes back taxes, doesn't have a plumbing license (he told the Associated Press he doesn't need one because he works for someone else's company), and may not be registered to vote.

Commenting on a CNN.com story, one condescending reader wrote that Joe the Plumber should pipe down and "get back in my bathroom and unclog the toilet."

Even Biden and Obama got in a few licks. Biden quipped to Jay Leno that Democrats wanted to take care of "Joe-the-real-plumber-with-a-license," and Obama sarcastically asked supporters, "how many plumbers do you know making $250,000 a year?" The implication being that Joe the Plumber isn't who he pretends to be.

What worries me is that the Democrats aren't what they pretend to be.

Obama supporters like to talk about how the Democratic presidential nominee has lived the American Dream. So why is it to so hard for them to conceive of a situation where someone dreams of earning more money a few years from now than they earn today. Has Barack Obama consumed all the social mobility this country has to offer, so there isn't any left for the rest of us?

Now, the Obama-Biden boosters have refocused their attention on their earlier irritant, Sarah Palin.

The latest media template is that the vice presidential nominee is a drag on the GOP ticket. Pundits detect a backlash, not just among Democrats who love to hate Sarah Palin but also among women, independents and seniors. They cite polls showing Palin with an unfavorable rating of 50 percent.

So what? We're in the post-Clinton, post-Bush era of polarization where any politician with a pulse -- Sorry, Joe Biden -- will be loved by half the country and hated by the other half.

It's surreal. Before McCain put Palin on the ticket, he was getting 200 people at campaign rallies, and now, when he appears when Palin, he gets 20,000. Yes, definitely a drag. iReport.com: Rock star welcome for Palin in Ohio

McCain oversold it when he said Palin was the most qualified vice presidential candidate in recent history. Better than Dick Cheney? Could she be worse? Obama might have paid Biden the same compliment if his running mate hadn't already told supporters that Hillary Clinton would have been a better choice.

Then there is the faux-scandal that the Republican National Committee shelled out $150,000 in the past several weeks on Palin and her family for campaign wardrobe, accessories, makeup, etc.

Many Americans don't see why it's a story. Fellow hockey mom Page Growney of New Canaan, Conn., asked The Associated Press, "What did you want to see her in, a turtleneck from L.L. Bean?"

Still, we're told, this tempest in a Gucci bag has some Republicans worrying that shopping sprees at Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue might undermine Palin's everywoman image. To think, just last month, the criticism was that Sarah the Moose Hunter wasn't sufficiently sophisticated or glamorous. Now her wardrobe signals the hockey mom is high-maintenance.

Just how many more caricatures -- some of them contradictory -- can we expect the left to throw at Sarah Palin before time runs out on this election?

McCain Leg Photos of the Debate. Rueters. Here We Go Again.

As sexism charges against media coverage of Sarah Palin have intensified in recent weeks, one particular news photograph has roused widespread fury among readers who say it demeans the Alaska governor as nothing more than a sex object.

The photo -- taken Wednesday by the Reuters wire service -- shows the Republican vice presidential candidate addressing supporters at a rally in Bethlehem, Pa.

But the only glimpse of Palin in the photo is a blurred close-up of her legs -- with the face of a young, male audience member set between them as he looks upward at the stage.

Separately, an Associated Press photographer took similar photos from a different angle, including one that appeared to include Cindy McCain's legs.

Whether an artistic portrayal of a vice presidential candidate or an explicitly sexist snapshot, the photograph prompted 11,485 viewer comments in the first three hours after it was posted Thursday on FOXNews.com.

Some readers, unconvinced that it is an objective news photo, speculated whether it would have been taken if Palin were a male candidate.

"By showing Sarah Palin's legs instead of her face, it couldn't be anything but sexist," wrote one viewer.

"We'd never have a photo like this of Joe Biden," added another, who called on groups like the National Organization of Women to condemn it.

Other readers even charged that the Reuters photo was part of a larger effort by the "mainstream media" to depict Palin as an ineffectual candidate whose only qualities worthy of attention are her physical attributes.

"We expect this behavior from the tabloids, but not a once respected news agency. Just proves how insanely desperate the left has become," wrote a viewer.

But a flood of respondents disagreed, saying it is nothing more than a photograph of Palin that effectively "frames the listener"--and one that carries no sexist undertones.

"Is the photo sexist? Depends on who you are and what you are looking for," wrote a reader.

"Is it a woman's legs? Yes. If it were a man's legs in work attire would it be sexist? Was GW (George W. Bush) working on the farm in a short sleeve shirt sexist? Was Obama in the swim trunks sexist? (John) Kerry on the surfboard? Is McCain sexist because he married a former beauty pageant contestant? That (picture) is an often-used shot. It shows the speaker with the group looking up to them," the viewer wrote.

"If this hits your sexual urges then wow, you are depraved," another reader quipped.

Some respondents blamed Palin herself for injecting sexism into the presidential race.

"It's Sarah Palin who keeps referring to her gender with her references to a 'pit bull with lipstick' and her comment that 'the gloves have come off and the heels are on'" said a viewer.

"Clearly the shot was in reference to the "heels" comment she made about herself -- it's just a shot of a woman in high-heels demonstrating her own point."

Others also dismissed recent criticism of the latest Newsweek cover, which shows a close-up picture of Palin's face that was not retouched or airbrushed.

It's inherently sexist, viewers wrote, to expect that a female candidate's picture be altered to enhance her appearance.

"It's sexism in reverse to claim that Newsweek's photo should have been airbrushed. Governor Palin is not a beauty queen, she's a politician. We would never cry sexism if it were a close-up of Biden's fine-lines and wrinkles. Men can have their imperfections shown, but women cannot?" another respondent wrote.

It sounds like the rabid rantings of some poor demented shlub posting at the Democratic Underground. Instead, it is Al Gore's former fashion adviser, Naomi Wolf, indulging in sanity-challenged fantasies on her Huffington Post blog. The target of Wolf's derangement is Sarah Palin and it is so over the top that one might suspect Wolf is an agent provocateur working for conservatives in order to discredit the left. Think I'm kidding? Check out this sampling of Wolf's plunge off the political deep end (emphasis mine):

Please understand what you are looking at when you look at Sarah "Evita" Palin. You are looking at the designated muse of the coming American police state.

You have to understand how things work in a closing society in order to understand "Palin Power." A gang or cabal seizes power, usually with an affable, weak figurehead at the fore. Then they will hold elections -- but they will make sure that the election will be corrupted and that the next affable, weak figurehead is entirely in their control.

Um, thanks for letting us "understand" how things work, Naomi. And from here, she regales us with a strong dose of melodrama:

I realized early on with horror what I was seeing in Governor Palin: the continuation of the Rove-Cheney cabal, but this time without restraints. I heard her echo Bush 2000 soundbites ("the heart of America is on display") and realized Bush's speechwriters were writing her -- not McCain's -- speeches. I heard her tell George Bush's lies -- not McCain's -- to the American people, linking 9/11 to Iraq. I heard her make fun of Barack Obama for wanting to prevent the torture of prisoners -- this is Rove-Cheney's enthusiastic S and M, not McCain's, who, though he shamefully colluded in the 2006 Military Tribunals Act, is also a former prisoner of war and wrote an eloquent Newsweek piece in 2005 opposing torture. I saw that she was even styled by the same skillful stylist (neutral lipstick, matte makeup, dark colors) who turned Katharine Harris from a mall rat into a stateswoman and who styles all the women in the Bush orbit --but who does not bother to style Cindy McCain.

Wolf continues to wave her magic butterfly net with yet more inadvertently comedic gems:

...She uses mafia tactics against critics, like the police commissioner who was railroaded for opposing handguns in Alaskan battered women's shelters -- Rove's style, not McCain's...

...Reports confirmed my suspicions: Palin, not McCain, is the FrankenBarbie of the Rove-Cheney cabal...

...I believe the Rove-Cheney cabal is using Sarah Palin as a stalking horse, an Evita figure, to put a popular, populist face on the coming police state and be the talk show hostess for the end of elections as we know them. If McCain-Palin get in, this will be the last true American election. She will be working for Halliburton, KBR, Rove and Cheney into the foreseeable future...

...Look at the RNC. This is supposed to be McCain's America. But you see the unmistakable theatre of Rove's S and M imagery -- and you see stages eight, nine and ten of the steps to a dictatorship as I outlined them in The End of America. Preemptive arrest? Abusive arrest? "Newly released footage, which was buried to avoid confiscation, shows riot cops arresting and abusing a giant group of people for nothing."

...The riot police wore the black S&M gear of the Rovian fantasy life and carried the four foot batons cops carry in North Korea. All this is not John McCain's imagery or strategy: it is Karl Rove's...

...In McCain-Palin's America, citizens who are protesting are being charged as terrorists. This means that a violent war had been declared on American citizens. A well known reporter leaked to me on background that St Paul police had dressed as protesters and, dressed in Black -- shades of the Blackshirts of 1920 -- infiltrated protest groups...

You probably think Wolf's rantings could not get any more bizarre but it does. It does:

Under the coming Palin-Rove police state, you will witness the plans now underway to bring Iraqi troops to patrol the streets of our nation.

Under the Palin-Rove police state, there will be no further true elections. Mark Crispin Miller has done sensational and under-reported investigating t o establish that -- as I warned -- indeed the GOP staffers on the US Senate Judiciary Committee have been .

Under the Palin-Rove police state, citizens will be targeted with state cyberterrorism. Bruce Fein of the American Freedom Agenda, a former Reagan official, warned me three years ago that the Bush team went after a Republican who had crossed them through cyberstalking: they messed with his email, messed with his phones and I believe messed with his bank account -- he became a cyber-pariah, unemployable and haunted.

They "messed with his email?" You mean like how that Democrat hacker did with Sarah Palin's e-mail? Okay, sorry for the interruption. We return you now to Naomi Wolf Fantasy Theater:

Am I trying to scare you? I am. I am trying to scare you to death and ask you to scare your Republican and independent friends most of all. How do you know when it is war on citizens? When there are mass arrests, journalists are jailed, the opposition is infiltrated, rights are stripped and leaders start to ignore the rule of law.

Okay, enough with the regular political fantasies. Let us now watch Wolf's hard core paranoia:

Almost everyone I work with on projects related to this campaign for liberty has been experiencing computer harassment: emails are stripped, messages disappear. That's not all: people's bank accounts are being tampered with: wire transfers to banks vanish in midair. I personally keep opening bank accounts that are quickly corrupted by fraud. Money vanishes. Coworkers of mine have to keep opening new email accounts as old ones become infected. And most disturbingly to me personally is the mail tampering I have both heard of and experienced firsthand. My tax returns vanished from my mailbox. All my larger envelopes arrive ripped straight open apparently by hand. When I show the postman, he says "That's impossible." Horrifyingly to me is the impact on my family. My childrens' report cards are returned again and again though perfectly addressed; their invitations are turned back; and my daughters many letters from camp? Vanished. All of them. Not one arrived. Try explaining that to a smart thirteen year old. Try explaining it in a way that still makes her feel secure and comfortable.

Ahh, but the strawberries that's... that's where I had them. They laughed at me and made jokes but I proved beyond the shadow of a doubt and with... geometric logic... that a duplicate key to the wardroom icebox DID exist, and I'd have produced that key if they hadn't of pulled the Caine out of action. I, I, I know now they were only trying to protect some fellow officers...

Oops! Wolf's diatribe caused your humble correspondent to channel Captain Queeg. We now return you now for the big drama queen finale:

I am not telling you this because it's about my life. I am telling you this because it is about your life -- whoever you are, Conservative or Liberal, independent or evangelical. Your politics will not protect you in a police state. History shows that nothing portects you in a police state. This is not about my fear and anxiety: it is about what awaits you and everyone you love unless you see this for what it is:

Scharansky divided nations into "fear societies" and "free societies." Make no mistake: Sarah "Evita" Palin is Rove and Cheney's cosmetic rebranding of their fascist push: she will help to establish a true and irreversible "fear society" in this once free once proud nation. For God's sake, do not let her; do not let them.

Wow! This sure reminds me of a certain Gary Larson cartoon. A patient is reclining on a psychiatrist's couch. Sitting next to him is the shrink writing on his notepad: "Just plain NUTS!!!"

And please keep in mind that this isn't just some anonymous loon posting at the Democratic Underground where such rants are common. This was Naomi Wolf at the Huffington Post.

Obama Should Apologize for the Hollywood Hate

Requests have been pouring in from the mainstream media and liberal politicians for John McCain and Sarah Palin to apologize and distance themselves from so-called divisive and intolerant comments made by rally attendees. Referring to the words as “alarms,” The New York Times via Frank Rich cited the following: “The raucous and insistent cries of ‘Treason!’ and ‘Terrorist!’ and ‘Kill him!’ and ‘Off with his head!’ as well as the uninhibited slinging of racial epithets…” “Doing nothing is not an option,” Rich wrote. Georgia Rep. John Lewis issued a statement in which he characterized the McCain-Palin campaign as having a “negative tone” and stated that McCain and Palin were “playing with fire” and “sowing the seeds of hatred and division.” “During another period, in the not too distant past, there was a governor of the state of Alabama named George Wallace who also became a presidential candidate,” Lewis informed. He wrote that Wallace “created the climate and the conditions that encouraged vicious attacks against innocent Americans...” and that “because of this atmosphere of hate, four little girls were killed on Sunday morning when a church was bombed in Birmingham, Alabama.” Lewis later claimed that the statement was not comparing the GOP candidates to Wallace. The Washington Post via columnist Khaled Hosseini used similar language in a piece titled “McCain and Palin Are Playing With Fire.” Hosseini decried the use by speakers at McCain-Palin rallies of Obama’s middle name, Hussein. Former Dem candidate John Kerry joined in, writing about “ugliness at the campaign rallies of John McCain and Sarah Palin.” Referring to the “insults and racial epithets” at the rallies, Kerry wrote, “I strongly condemn language like this which can only be described as hate-filled.” Meanwhile the Obama campaign said and did nothing as the following occurred: Sandra Bernhard said that if Palin came to New York she would be “gang raped” by Bernhard’s African-American male friends and also called Cindy McCain a “Barbie doll hooker.” Pamela Anderson said, “I can't stand her” and “she can s**k it.” After telling thousands of fans, “You know who can get off of my street? Sarah Palin,” Madonna led fans in the following chant: “I'm gonna kick her a** if she don't get off of my street!” She later shouted, “This is the sound of Sarah Palin's husband's snowmobile when it won't start up in the wintertime” while letting loose with loud dissonant guitar feedback. Cybill Shepherd called Palin an “American catastrophe.” Betty White labeled her “one crazy b***h.” When these big-name celebrity Obama supporters hurl their hate, it gets picked up, repeated and amplified by the mainstream press. It’s time for Obama to apologize for the hate speech of his Hollywood pals, and while he’s at it he might also call off his biased buds in the media.

(Photos) Obama Supporters wear Anti Sarah Palin C**t Shirts; Where Is the Media?

This is not Obama's Fault,  just like the racists that show up at McCain's rallies are not McCain's fault.

The media has been busy reporting the “anger” of the conservatives at the McCain/Palin rallies, how supporters want McCain to get tougher on Obama and force Obama’s terrorist associations into the eyes of the public and how McCain has been forced to “defend” poor little Barack Obama…..but where are the media reports about Obama supporters wearing t-shirts calling Sarah Palin a c*nt?

Have you seen this reported anywhere at all?

This picture came to me via email, the email text is below:

I was at a Sarah Palin event in Philadelphia, at the Park Hyatt Hotel - late Saturday afternoon (Oct. 11th). If you are easily grossed out by the “C” word, I am sorry. But as Andrea says below, if McCain supporters wore a shirt that said “Obama is a N*g&^r” or even “Obama is a B*stard” or “Obama is a Terrorist” at an Obama Rally, they would either be thrown off the premises, have their heads kicked in, or even be detained at the local police station (I know this for a fact: I just had on a McCain button at a recent Obama event and I didn’t think I was going to get out alive).

Sorry the picture is not clearer. But these four young people were right in front of the hotel. They have on the nicest shirts. There were worse. There was group as well carrying around a fake dead fetus - exclaiming that “abortion should have been the path for Bristol(?) Palin”. And quite a few smoke bombs, etc. etc.

I also had some nice words thrown at me.

There were about 500 organized protesters. And about 500 not so organized at this event. The police and hotel security and secret service were letting me all the way up to the hotel steps. In a few cased … a few protesters got into the lobby.

In my family, the “C” word is about as bad as you can get.

Was this reported on the Philadelphia News. No!. Was anyone outraged? No!. All that was on the Philadelphia local news last night was: Obama was at several rallies in Philadelphia earlier in the day (but went home Saturday night to be with his children). Obama and Palin were in Philly on the same day. And was there any mention of Palin - No!. In the Sports section of the local evening news at 11:00PM, they did mention that Palin was at the Philadelphia Flyers game “dropping the first (hockey) puck”. The guy said it with a smirk. Then he added that Sarah Palin WAS NOT going home to spend the evening with her children.

Sorry the attached picture is not clearer. I need a new camera. Please circulate this to as many people as possible and let them see the double standard.

Not good stuff for a Sunday morning. But this is the REAL AMERICA!.

Calling Sarah Palin a cunt would be the equivalent of a group of protesters calling Obama a n*g*&r. If that ever happened you know we would be seeing it for weeks replayed endlessly with discussions about how the race is still close because Americans are racist.

Obama Supporter Paints Nude Portrait Of Palin To Hang In His Old Town Ale House

This is unbelievably in bad taste.  And in my opinion this is disrespectful of women and our country in general.  This wouldn't and hasn't happened to any men in this campaign.  What if this were a picture of Hilary?  And what if Palin is elected VP?  It should be against the law in my view.

A co-owner of the Old Town Ale House in Chicago's North Side, Bruce Elliott, painted a portrait of a nude Sarah Palin for his ale house, using his daughter as the model. The portrait was unveiled Thursday and has started drawing crowds and buzz.

The portrait is done as an oil painting, stands four-foot-tall and represents a nude Sarah Palin, with her trademark glasses, red stiletto heels and nothing else, leaning on a gun and standing on a polar bear skin.

An uncensored version of the painting with other nude portraits beside it can be found at Flickr, showing this type of art is not unusual for the Old Town Ale House.

Elliott says the idea came to him the week before when he noticed his daughter Grace doing an impression of Palin, saying "My daughter is a heck of a stand-in for Sarah Palin. She can even do the voice."

From there it was a simple matter of getting his daughter to pose nude for him, which she says wasn't a problem because "He changed my diapers,"

Elliott, who says he’s pulling for Barack Obama in the election, worked on the portrait for seven to eight hours a day for a week. While the piece qualifies as a quick grab for attention, it’s also very much the creation of someone immersed in the coverage of Palin, whom he refers to as “a real nasty piece of work” while also admitting feeling attracted to her.

The report from Windy Citizen says the Palin portrait is becoming the bars "star attraction" with people coming in, even from rival bars to see it and take photographs of it.

Elliott states he will not sell the portrait and neither will he paint another version of it, the he says this of Palin, "I don’t see how she could be offended by this. I made her into a sex figure."

Country star Hank Williams Jr. has penned a tune for Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin callled "McCain-Palin Tradition."

Williams managed to get in the McCain campaign's talking points, of last week at least, that Obama has "terrorist friends." He also squeezed into the lyrics another Republican message, that the Democrats caused the financial meltdown by pressuring bankers to give loans to helpless bankers.

That's what you call some good old, down home poetic license.

Nothing in there about credit default swaps. Which is too bad since that term has some good rhyming potential: flops, mops, hops (as in beer), just to name a few.

There once was a time when working-class troubadors' songs criticized bankers who took advantage of the little people. Now we have pro-Republican country star lamenting the plight of the put-upon bankers. Only in America.

Florida Congressman Regrets Swipe at 'Gun Toting' Palin

ABC News' Teddy Davis and Rigel Anderson Report: Florida Democratic Congressman Alcee Hastings issued a statement Monday indicating that he regrets saying that "gun toting" Sarah Palin "don't care too much" about Jews and blacks while still maintaining that the policies and priorities of a McCain-Palin administration would be  "anathema to most African-Americans and Jews."

“I regret the comments I made last Tuesday that were not smart and certainly not relevant to hunters or sportsmen," Hastings said in his statement. “I regret that I was not clearer and apologize to Governor Palin, my host where I was speaking, and those who my comments may have offended.”

While participating in a panel discussion last week sponsored by the National Jewish Democratic Council (N.J.D.C), Hastings said: "If Sarah Palin isn’t enough of a reason for you to get over whatever your problem is with Barack Obama, then you damn well had better pay attention. Anybody toting guns and stripping moose don’t care too much about what they do with Jews and blacks. So, you just think this through."

Asked last week what the congressman meant, Hastings spokesman David Goldenberg told ABC News that he was trying to argue that Palin is an "extremely conservative woman who is out of touch with mainstream America."

After saying that Palin "don't care too much" about Jews and blacks, Hastings argued at the N.J.D.C. event that African Americans and Jews should come together behind Obama because there are many issues on which they agree. 

"Just like Jews, blacks care about affordable health care, energy independence, and the separation of church and state," said Hastings. "And just like blacks, Jews care about equal pay for equal work, investment in alternative energy, and a woman's right to choose."

Asked last week about the Hastings criticism, Palin spokeswoman Maria Comella said, "We’re taking a pass."

Gov. Sarah Palin didn't ask for a pay raise and won't accept one during her current term, a spokesman said Wednesday.

A new state commission appointed by Palin recommends boosting the governor's pay from $125,000 to $150,000. The State Officers Compensation Commission says the lieutenant governor, department heads and legislators need more money too.

But if the commission pushes ahead with a pay raise, Palin won't accept the money, said spokesman Bill McAllister.

"Her view is, it's just not appropriate to accept a pay raise in the middle of the term."

Palin's term ends in 2010.

The Legislature created the five-member commission this year to decide how much top state officials should be paid. Two members are recommended by legislative leaders.

The group announced its early suggestions this week and plans to hear from the public at 9 a.m. today at Legislative Information Offices around the state.

Palin makes 46 percent more than her predecessor, Frank Murkowski.

She's also the 24th-lowest paid governor, according to the commission's numbers.

"We were all a little surprised by the preliminary recommendations," McAllister said of the suggested 20 percent raise for the governor. "We didn't know that was coming."

It's unclear if Palin would give the money to charity -- as commission chairman Rick Halford predicted Tuesday -- or simply not receive the extra pay.

Also Wednesday, Palin's team had been expected to unveil an energy plan that would tally energy costs and the cost of potential energy projects in towns and villages across the state.

Instead, the plan has been delayed until next month.

"It's a huge, huge body of information that is simply being put into final form," said Karsten Rodvik, spokesman for the Alaska Energy Authority. "And it takes some time and some level of communication and work between our office, and the governor's office to pull it all together and pick a date and make it happen."

Cindy Michaels Anchor for WVII and WFVX in Bangor, Maine Harassed for Sarah Palin Resemblance

NEW YORK - News Anchor Cindy Michaels for WVII and WFVX in Bangor, Maine says viewers recently began accusing her of trying to copy Gov. Sarah Palin's look.

It's been less than a month since Alaska Governor Sarah Palin was announced as John McCain's running mate and since then, she has become an overnight sensation with the media.

As a result, Michaels has also been receiving some of her own media attention.

She has long brown hair that she sometimes wears up in a style similar to Palin's, and she also wears distinctive glasses.

"My own mother said, 'you look just like Sarah Palin.' She went on and on," Michaels said Tuesday. "Friends and family, or if I go out on stories, everyone says, 'Hey, Sarah.'"

Michaels gets e-mails and phone calls from people who insist she is trying to sway voters with the Palin look. Some callers into her station have even left rude insults on her voicemail.

"What is this k mart version of Sarah Palin? What did you do, lose your little cheapo glasses?" a person, who refused to leave their name, said on the network's voicemail.

"I got a call from a woman who said, 'Take your hair down. It shouldn't be up,'" Michaels said. "I told her, I've been wearing my hair like this forever. I told her I was using that look long before Sarah Palin was on the scene. The woman said, 'I know. But it's not a look you should be doing right now.'"

Organizers of Iran rally threatened with loss of tax-exempt status if they invited Palin. Here we go again.

Name ‘em and shame ‘em. Seriously. Fox News and the Journal should be all over this. Judging from the number of Democrats quoted in the piece as being upset about it, there’s no shortage of people willing to leak. Let’s find out who, precisely, decided that inviting a prominent Republican to a nonpartisan rally might warrant a visit from the IRS.

And then, in the words of a famous cult leader, let’s get in their faces.

Sources tell CBS 2 HD that a decision to disinvite Palin from the high profile rally after Clinton pulled out in a huff came as the result of intense pressure from Democrats.

“This is insulting. This is embarrassing, especially to Gov. Palin, to me and I think it should be to every single New Yorker,” Assemblyman Dov Hikind, D-Brooklyn, told CBS 2 HD.

Sources say the axes were out for Palin as soon as Sen. Clinton pulled out because she did not want to attend the same event as the Republican vice presidential candidate…

The groups sponsoring the rally against Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad speaking at the UN were reportedly told, “it could jeopardize their tax exempt status” if they had Palin and not Clinton or Democratic VP candidate Joe Biden on hand…

“It’s an absolute shame that this has happened,” Hikind said. “To threaten organizations … to threaten the Conference of Presidents that if you don’t withdraw the invitation to Gov. Palin we’re going to look into your tax exempt status … that’s McCarthyism.”…

“I’m absolutely appalled at the behavior of the Democrats,” said Bob Kunst of Defenders.net. “I’m a Democrat and for the first time in my life I’m going to vote Republican. I can’t take it anymore.”

NBC wrote about the tax-exemption issue two days ago but they made it sound like something the organizers had taken up of their own accord. Quote from an unnamed official involved: “The IRS is very clear, Hillary Clinton does not equal Sarah Palin… You have to have equal representation of candidates.” You do? Here’s the speaker list from last year’s anti-Iran rally at the UN. Scott Garrett is a Republican congressman; as far as I know, every other pol on the list is a Democrat. As for the Obama camp’s role in this, John Batchelor, who’s pals with rally organizer Malcolm Hoenlein, hints here that they weren’t directly involved in the nastiness because, as usual, they had surrogates willing to do their dirty work for them. Fine. As I say: Let’s find out which Democratic lawyers, precisely, arrived at the very novel legal conclusion that inviting both parties to a rally to which only one party RSVPs amounts to politicking in breach of one’s tax exemption. And then let’s ask St. Barack why he couldn’t find one person on his side — apart from the guy who called Palin a Nazi sympathizer a few weeks ago, of course — willing to speak at this rally to “balance” the ticket.

Exit question: Isn’t there something oddly familiar about all this? Exit answer: Yes there is.

Matthews Panel: Palin Not Ready as VP Now, Qualified as Prez in 2012

If you needed any more evidence that the media meme regarding Sarah Palin not being qualified for vice president is nothing but liberal propaganda from America's Obama-loving press you got it on Sunday's "The Chris Matthews Show."

After the panel of New York magazine's John Heilemann, the Washington Post's Anne Kornblut, NBC's Andrea Mitchell, and the Chicago Tribune's Clarence Page unanimously concluded that Palin was a horrible choice as John McCain's runningmate due to her lack of qualifications, they all agreed that she will be a serious candidate for president in 2012 if Obama wins.

Interesting hypocrisy, wouldn't you agree?

CHRIS MATTHEWS, HOST: Sarah Palin gave John McCain a big boost coming out of the Republican convention. But then came those network interviews, especially the one with Katie Couric. Her troubling answers made her an object of ridicule on late-night TV...Things have only gone downhill from there. In the latest NBC poll, even Republicans listed Sarah Palin as the biggest drag on John McCain. Clarence, a plus or minus all told, this selection for Vice President?

CLARENCE PAGE, CHICAGO TRIBUNE: Short-term plus, long-term minus. I mean, that term was about ten days, because it has been one bad news episode after another. Plus, the very fact they refused to let her face the press in a news conference tells everybody she's not ready and even in the one-on-ones she has the same kind of problem.

MATTHEWS: You used the phrase she's not ready. When she first was presented to the public, rather attractive, surprising, novelty, all that, likable, then somebody changed the topic from, the question from is she a good junior partner on this ticket, the new person on the block, or is she ready to be president at this moment and if not she's not ready to be president right at this moment, she's not ready to be VP. Somebody changed the question and that's killed them, I think.

Stop the tape: Is Matthews being serious, or astoundingly obtuse? After all, it was folks like him, Keith Olbermann, the panelists in his presence, and the entire Obama-loving media that changed this question. But I digress:

ANN KORNBLUT, WASHINGTON POST: Well, look, and they never had a strategy to respond to it. There was no, look, we're taking a first-term governor who obviously doesn't have that much experience but we're going to do a series of events, a series of meetings to roll her out and show that she really is ready. There seemed to be no strategy except to just bring her out, hide her from the press for a while, then start doing interviews. It seemed extremely random. It was interesting in their joint interview when they said that Colin Powell never even met her. Well, why not? Why didn't they arrange a meeting to try and convince people she was ready?

MATTHEWS: Did she pick them or did they pick her? The handlers around McCain. I get the feeling she had a hand in this.

ANDREA MITCHELL, NBC NEWS: Well, she was promoting herself, she was very actively promoting herself for a number of months from Alaska and that was a coming together of like-minded people but it shows how shallow, I think, and cynical the choice was to a lot of the critics. The critics look at her and look at what's happened and say not ready, not a serious choice, and what he needed to do was reach independents. He had to make sure that the base was there. But he needed a strategy for independent voters and she was the absolute worst strategy for that.

MATTHEWS: Suppose he had gone to the default button and gone with a Romney or a Pawlenty, the obvious choice. Would he be better off now or not, really?

JOHN HEILEMANN, NEW YORK MAGAZINE: Probably not.

MATTHEWS: Yeah.

Stop the tape: I thought it was the Palin pick that submarined McCain's campaign. Now, minutes into the discussion, we find that neither Heilemann nor Matthews believes this is the case:

HEILEMANN: I mean, I think, again, you come back to the financial crisis and his terrible handling of it. And maybe Romney would have helped him to kind of figure his way out through that thicket a little bit better. But I just, to your point, Chris, I don't think anybody changed the question. I think that's always the question. The question is are you ready to be president? It just takes us a little while to get to it sometimes. Eventually we got there and she couldn't answer it.

Now, watch how the story changes when Matthews asks his panel to fast-forward to the day after Election Day:

MATTHEWS: Well, let's get to where we're headed now. It's November 5, it's November 5, the day after the big election this year. Is she the first in line to run for 2012?

KORNBLUT: I think she certainly has a claim to, and she seems like she's getting ready herself ready for it, sure.

MATTHEWS: She running or ready?

PAGE: Yeah, sure, first finish out the gubernatorial term, get a talk show host job. I think there are things she's very good at. She just isn't prepared as far as the information in her head, quick recall, the analysis, that's all.

MATTHEWS: Andrea, is this the candidate here?

MITCHELL: Sure. It's the talk show deal. It's Sarah Palin versus Huckabee. The battle of the talk show hosts.

Wait...it's gonna get better:

MATTHEWS: Could she win the nomination, John? Is she a real likely candidate to win this thing?

HEILEMANN: She could, and I'll tell you why. A, she's the most popular person in the Republican Party right now. And B, as the conservative movement splinters, as it's clearly, there is going to be a bloodbath after this election, there's going to be a huge bloc built around populism and social conservativism and she is both those things and she's a compelling figure, and she's got a lot of fans out there.

So, let's recap. As a vice presidential candidate in 2008, Palin is:

• "an object of ridicule"
• "the biggest drag on John McCain"
• "long-term minus"
• "not ready"
• "doesn't have that much experience"
• "not a serious choice"
• a "shallow" and "cynical" choice
• "the absolute worst strategy"

Yet, the day after the election is over:

• Palin is "the first in line to run for 2012"
• She "certainly has a claim to" run in 2012
• "there are things she's very good at"
• "It's Sarah Palin versus Huckabee"
• "she's the most popular person in the Republican Party right now"
• "she's a compelling figure"
• "she's got a lot of fans out there"

Wow! Talk about what a difference a day makes.

According to all these folks, she's unqualified to be vice president on November 4. But on November 5, if Obama wins, she's totally qualifed to start her 2012 presidential run.

Hmmm. Just imagine how much more qualified she'd be in either 2012 or 2016 if she was vice president until then instead of a talk show host.

I guess this logic magically eluded these shills.

Sarah Palin hurting Palin Syrah Wine sales

A classic, and somehow unsurprising, tale from the food blog Serious Eats:

Republican vice presidential pick Sarah Palin might not be fond of San Francisco, but one San Francisco wine bar is fond of Palin Syrah. Or rather, it was.

"It was our best selling wine before (the V.P. announcement),” said Chris Tavelli, owner of Yield Wine Bar, which has offered Palin Syrah, a certified organic wine from Chile, by the glass since July. But after Sen. John McCain tagged Sarah Palin as his running mate, sales of the wine with the conservative's inverted name plummeted—not surprising in famously liberal San Francisco.

As with the GOP ticket, the Palin falls second in the lineup. The wine’s tasting note reads as it did when Tavelli wrote it months ago: white pepper, madrone, dry. Incidentally, a madrone is an evergreen found primarily in the Pacific Northwest that bears red berries in the fall. When the berries dry up, they are replaced by hooked barbs that latch onto large animals for migration.

Sarah Palin Church Youtube Video. Save from Witchcraft.

There is no way to know if that is truly Sarah Palin. Many people look like her.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — A grainy YouTube video surfaced Wednesday showing Sarah Palin being blessed in her hometown church three years ago by a Kenyan pastor who prayed for her protection from "witchcraft" as she prepared to seek higher office.

The video shows Palin standing before Bishop Thomas Muthee in the pulpit of the Wasilla Assembly of God church, holding her hands open as he asked Jesus Christ to keep her safe from "every form of witchcraft."

"Come on, talk to God about this woman. We declare, save her from Satan," Muthee said as two attendants placed their hands on Palin's shoulders. "Make her way my God. Bring finances her way even for the campaign in the name of Jesus. ... Use her to turn this nation the other way around."

Palin filed campaign papers a few months later, in October 2005, and was elected governor the next year.

Palin does not say anything on the video and keeps her head bowed throughout the blessing. The Republican vice presidential candidate was baptized at the church but stopped attending regularly in 2002.

Tennessean: The son of state Rep. Mike Kernell has been contacted by authorities in connection with a probe into the hacking of the personal e-mail of vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, Kernell confirmed on Thursday.

UPDATE: The Tennessean has changed the lede: State Rep. Mike Kernell confirmed Thursday that his son, a University of Tennessee-Knoxville student, is at the center of heated Internet discussion into the hacking of the personal e-mail of vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

UPDATE II: NASHVILLE - State Rep. Mike Kernell said today that he was aware of Internet rumors about his son being the subject of speculation that he accessed the personal e-mail of vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

PART OF ORIGINAL STORY: Kernell, a Memphis Democrat, said his 20-year-old son David had been contacted by authorities investigating the hacking of Palin's personal email account.

The FBI and the Secret Service started a formal investigation on Wednesday into the hacking.

David Kernell is a student at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Mike Kernell said he spoke to his son on Thursday, as he does on a regular basis.

Kernell otherwise declined to comment, or discuss his son's whereabouts and whether he was in custody.

Reports that Palin's e-mail had been hacked bounced across blogs and into the news on Thursday.

I will try to just take it with a grain of salt. I hope Sarah Palin's daughter and her almost husband Levi can do the same. There is no reason to harrass young kids. Not only that, This country elected a president who used to have a drinking problem (Bush) and I maintain Bill Clinton is a Sex Addict. Why bother these young people just trying to get on with their life. Is this part even close to funny? We are talking about a baby here.

And if you’re worried about the baby, don’t – let’s get real dude, the way you are at 18, a baby’s better off not being around you – you’ll wind up losing it, or shooting it, or it’ll be on the bottom of your skate or something – just let the Palin womenfolk look after it for a while, one more infant in that Mormon compound they call a house won’t bother anybody – they’ll barely notice another kid at the table, and soon they won’t even remember whose seed it was that produced young “Trink” or “Truck” or “Puck” or whatever f@#$ed up redneck name they give him.
