Italian families pride themselves on their nativity scenes often adding a new figurine each year.

This year US President-elect Barack Obama and his wife Michelle are the favourites to stand next to the three wise men. Other figurines include Republican presidential candidate John McCain, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and wife Carla Bruni.

Even Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is present - standing next to several black rubbish bags to illustrate the waste problem in Naples.
