Former Boston Sportscaster 'Bob Gamere' Arrested For Child Porn

BOSTON (CBS) ― Former Boston TV sportscaster Bob Gamere has been arrested on child pornography charges.

Gamere, 69, of Brookline, was arrested Thursday morning on a federal indictment charging him with transportation and possession of child pornography.

In a statement, U.S. Attorney Michael Sullivan said Gamere sent several emails with child pornography video attached dating back to 2006.

Federal agents who searched his home say he also had disturbing printed images locked in a drawer in his bedroom.

If convicted, he faces 5-to-20 years in prison.

Gamere was released with an electronic monitoring bracelet. He is banned from having unsupervised contact with minors and was ordered to stay away from the Internet.

Gamere was a sports anchor at Channel 7 and Channel 56 in the 1970's and 80's.

He's perhaps best remembered as host of the Channel 7 program "Candlepins for Cash."
