NHL suspends Avery indefinitely for 'inappropriate' comment

The NHL has suspended Sean Avery for his disparaging remarks regarding his ex-girlfriend.

Avery told reporters Thursday that "it's become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my sloppy seconds." He was likely referring to his ex-girlfriend, Elisha Cuthbert, who is now dating Flames defenseman Dion Phaneuf. He is suspended indefinitely pending a further review. Avery also dated model and actress Rachel Hunter, the girlfriend of Los Angeles Kings center Jarrett Stoll.
