MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — At least three people are dead and 19 others had to be rescued after a boat carrying immigrants ran aground off Miami Beach.
The Coast Guard says the boat ran into trouble early Friday morning.
Twelve people are being questioned on a Coast Guard cutter. Another three were taken to the hospital for evaluation, and four were in custody with border patrol.
It was not immediately clear where the boat was coming from, but authorities say they believe at least some of the passengers are immigrants. Immigration officials believe there were 20-30 people on the vessel. Search and rescue crews are combing the waters to make sure no one was missed.
