Body Identified as That of Missing New York Teacher; Husband Charged With Murder

NORTH HILLS, N.Y. —  Police say a body found near a Long Island highway has been identified as that of a teacher who vanished on her way to school this week. Her husband is being charged with her murder.

Leah Walsh was reported missing when she failed to arrive for her job in Glen Cove. Her abandoned car was later found with a flat tire on another highway 13 miles from where her body was located.

Her body was found about 50 feet from a service road of the Long Island Expressway on Wednesday. Police say it had been there more than 24 hours.

William Walsh was questioned by detectives on Tuesday as part of the investigation.

Before the discovery of the body he spoke to reporters outside the couple's Bethpage home and made an appeal for information about his wife's whereabouts.
